  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Cook rice in chicken broth for 18–20 minutes until tender.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and cook the chicken until golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour until golden. Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring until thickened.
  5. Stir in additional seasonings and cheeses until melted.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over it, and let simmer for an additional few minutes.
  7. Serve over cooked rice garnished with fresh parsley.
