  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Lasagna noodles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella three times; finish with noodles on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake another 20 minutes until golden.
  8. Let cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
