  • ½ cup butter for caramel sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar for caramel sauce
  • ½ cup cream for caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly butter an 11 x 8-inch casserole dish.
  2. Soak chopped dates in scalded milk mixed with baking soda for about 15 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat eggs and mix with brown sugar, butter, and vanilla extract using a food processor until smooth.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture while blending. Incorporate the soaked dates and their liquid until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 30 minutes until golden.
  6. For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, stir in brown sugar and salt until melted; then add cream gradually while stirring until thickened.
